About us
The Biooptics and Optical Engineering Lab (BOEL) conducts basic and applied interdisciplinary research on the development of new diagnostic methods in ophthalmology. The main research directions include optical coherence tomography (OCT) with tuned lasers and optical engineering for the needs of microscopy. As part of the research, new methods of cataract diagnostics by measuring intraocular light scattering in various structures of the human eye, such as the cornea, crystalline lens and vitreous body, are developed. Moreover, microscopic methods for improving the quality of tissue and organ images are developed.
