This year’s Nobel Prize in Physics was shared by Alain Aspect, John F. Clauser and Anton Zeilinger. The award was given for “for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science”. The results of the laureates’ research laid the foundations for the development of quantum technologies, and honoring them with the Nobel Prize confirms the impact that these technologies are beginning to have on our lives and the enormous prospects that loom before them. For Polish science and industry to be able to participate in the development of technologies using quantum effects, as part of the NLPQT Project the Quantum Technology Laboratory have been established and infrastructure that will allow for advanced research and development in this field is being built. It is worth emphasizing that two leaders of research groups involved in the NLPQT Project, Dr. Radek Łapkiewicz and Dr. Mariusz Semczuk, gained experience working in the group of one of the laureates of the Prize, Anton Zeilinger.
