A mobile platform for the production of ultracold cesium atoms (71)

University of Warsaw

Contact person :

The mobile platform enables production of ultracold clouds of cesium atoms in a magneto-optical trap and allows for an easy change of the location of the setup, which is not possible in typical experimental setups based on ultracold atoms. The platform could be used in fundamental research in collaboration with other research groups which will have a chance to perform experiments they find interesting using ultracold atoms. These groups would not need to spend resources on constructing their own setups and could just rent the existing platform directly from the University.

The platform itself can be also used as an atom interferometer for measurements of the Earth’s gravitational field.

Elements included in the station:

  • Fiber laser Azure Light, 50 W@1064 nm
  • Spectrum analyzer up to 12 GHz
  • Laser system to probe the D2 line of cesium
  • Prusa 3D printer
