The construction of the station is aimed at building a scanning microscope based on the OCM (Optical Coherence Microscopy) technique. This technique enables three-dimensional imaging with micrometer resolution of scattering objects. Effectively, this class of objects includes, among others, a significant number of biological tissues. The device will constitute a complete measurement platform enabling the study of a wide range of objects, including the imaging of living objects. It will be equipped with (apart from the optomechanical structure and peripheral electronic equipment) software for acquisition and data analysis. The microscope’s design provides for its modularity and the possibility of extending it with additional optical paths, depending on the application. In addition, the device will also use an innovative solution in the field of a spectrometer construction, enabling three-dimensional spectroscopic analysis of the tested objects and thus opening the possibility of quantitative mapping of the presence of substances with a specific absorption or scattering profile in an object.

Elements included in the station:

  • Fiber-optic interferometer in the Mach-Zehnder configuration with an object arm equipped with a scanning imaging head
  • Spectrometer with two input channels for both arms of the interferometer in the off-axis system and a fast CMOS camera
