Dr. Eng. Łukasz Sterczewski
He conducts research on semiconductor and fiber sources of optical frequency combs and their use in precise laser spectroscopy. He is the author of digital and analog solutions for frequency stabilization of frequency combs. They allowed pioneering demonstrations of the usefulness of new, prototype laser sources emitting light in the medium and far infrared frequency range and enabled use of these lasers in the demanding dual-comb spectroscopy technique. in 2019, together with Dr. Eng. Jarosław Sotor, Dr. Eng. Sterczewski developed an all-fiber oscillator generating two mutually coherent frequency combs in its cavity for conducting measurements of gas molecules with Doppler-limited resolution without a need for stabilization. On its basis, the construction of a double-comb spectrometer for measuring air pollution outside the laboratory is planned. He is currently on a postdoctoral internship at the NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, where he optimizes interband cascade lasers (ICL) for use in future space missions.
